The COVID-19 Impact on the Performing Arts sector

This research focuses on the heavy impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Performing Arts industry. Researchers from the Department of Social and Political Sciences and SDA Bocconi Arts & Culture Knowledge Center analyzed a wide sample of theatre, opera, and symphony orchestra institutions across multiple countries (i.e. Italy, France, Spain, Germany, the UK and the US). The goal was that of assessing the current state of the sector and measuring the overall sentiment among executives of the institutions analyzed. The research ultimately aims to identify the main strategic challenges and opportunities posed by this new crisis, in order to propose managerial recommendations relating to the achievement of long-term sustainability in the sector.
