CORONADX - Three Rapid Diagnostic tests (Point-of-Care) for COVID-19, improving epidemic preparedness, public health and socio-economic benefits

by Marco Percoco, Edoardo Croci, and Annamaria Bagaini, in collaboration with Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele (in the framework of Horizon 2020's project CORONADX)

CORONADX is a Horizon 2020 project which involves a consortium of eight international partners, aiming at developing rapid SARS CoV-2 detection instruments in order to support clinical and molecular epidemiological studies. The GREEN Research Center at Bocconi University will operate as a third party supporting Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele.

The research team at Bocconi will develop an assessment of socio-economic impacts resulting from epidemic control measures at the European and global level. The aim is to quantify direct and indirect costs related to different COVID-19 pandemic response measures. Impacts will be estimated following a cost-effectiveness approach, comparing damages generated by the spread of COVID-19 with costs of containment and control measures. Co-benefits due to reduction of energy consumption, cleaner air, traffic reduction, etc. will be taken into account.
